Strengthening Young People’s Agropastoral Skills

As part of the project “Sports as an Essential Tool for Strengthening Peace, Social Cohesion, and Inclusive Development,” the Charles Nkazamyampi Foundation (FCN), in partnership with Kickoff to Hope and with financial support from the Parliament and the State Ministry of Baden-Württemberg, organized an agropastoral entrepreneurship training on November 21–22, 2025, in Butanyerera, Kigoma commune, Kigoma zone, Kirundo province. The objective was to enhance the socio-economic empowerment of young people.
During the training, the youth learned the main techniques of rabbit farming, including proper hutch construction, healthy and varied feeding, reproduction management, hygiene, disease prevention, and the basic principles needed to make their livestock profitable. They were also introduced to methods for multiplying cassava and sweet potato seeds, particularly the selection of healthy cuttings and stems, proper plant preparation, appropriate planting techniques, and the maintenance required to produce high-quality seed stock. These practical skills will enable participants to start and develop effective, income-generating agropastoral activities.
